Growing Up Green Staff
Growing Up Green is owned and managed by Adrienne Blackwell and Clare Crosby-Adams. Clare and Adrienne are responsible for the overall management of all aspects of the nursery, and play an active role in its everyday running. Both are qualified and experienced teachers. Furthermore, before forming a partnership, Adrienne was previously a successful primary school deputy head whilst Clare has owned and managed a children’s nursery for many years in Cambridgeshire. Both are also mothers, with young children who attend the nursery.
The recruitment and retention of staff is a priority at Growing Up Green. We know how important it is for children to establish a sense of stability and security. To try and ensure this we carefully select our staff, offer a highly competitive package and supportive working conditions. Once working with us staff have regular appraisals and are encouraged to take up a range of training opportunities to foster their professional development. More generally we strive to facilitate an environment where all staff have the confidence to communicate effectively with each other, management and parents.
Each child is assigned a nursery practitioner as a key worker. Key workers have special responsibility for the children assigned to them; over time they develop an important relationship with children and parents. Alongside nursery practitioners, room leaders take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of each room. We also have a supervisor in place who oversees the daily running and routines of the nursery. Clare and Adrienne work at all levels of the nursery, spending time in each of the rooms as well as taking responsibility for the overall management and administration of Growing Up Green.
The majority of our staff hold relevant childcare qualifications (NVQ level 2 or above). Those that do not are all currently formally working towards
these qualifications.
